RallyPoint Inc. has developed the HCID Handwear Computer Input Device intended for military use. HCID is a sensor-embedded glove that is capable of recognizing intuitive single-handed gesture commands and detecting hands-on-weapon input actions. Series of sensors sense the hand postur HCID and orientation to recognize different gesture commands whereas hands-on-weapons input actions are detected by thin, flexible force sensors placed throughout the glove. These sensors and their supporting conduction network are fully integrated in the fabric of the glove so that it looks and feels like a conventional soldier glove.
This special glove enables you to select the view mode of your helmet-mounted display without having to take your hand off your weapon or the steering wheal of your vehicle. It is also possible to operate a small, unmanned ground vehicle from a combat-ready posture. The HCID concept also has the potential of being a versatile electronics platform for a variety of possible devices (e.g., metal detector, life sign sensor, etc)
